Sprinkles Cupcakes closes down after 20 years

2026 was already welcomed with sad news when it was announced that Sprinkles Cupcakes would be closing all stores after 20 years.
Candace Nelson, the founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes, announced on Instagram that the company will be closing all its current locations.
Sprinkles Cupcakes was a well-known chain brand known for selling sweet treats in ‘cupcake ATMs.’ These cupcake ATMs are typically found in malls and airports across the United States. It started as a small storefront located in Beverly Hills. Over the years, it became more popular, and stores began opening across multiple states.
Even though KarpRilley hasn’t fully explained why they shut down Sprinkles Cupcakes, nor has Nelson or the company itself made a formal announcement. However, Sprinkles Cupcakes’ Instagram is gone, but its website is still available. It says they will be right back and that you can sign up below to stay in the loop.
Even though Nelson doesn’t have any ownership or operational involvement in the company, it was still a shock to her, as she thought the place would keep growing, leave a legacy, and be around forever.
She also asked fans and people who loved Sprinkles Cupcakes as much as she did to share their favorite memories of the place and how it brought them comfort or a sense of connection.
Over 5,232 comments were left on her post, some with memories, others with confusion and questions as to why Sprinkle Cupcakes was shutting down. Some comments even mentioned how Nelson got what she wanted by selling the company to KarpRilley.
Will we ever get an answer? Possibly. For now, all fans have is the remembrance of the jingle ‘I love Sprinkles’ that went viral on TikTok and was played while a mechanical arm was delivering your cupcake.
