North Ridgeville Rangers Defeat North Olmsted Eagles in Girls Basketball

Earlier today, in girls’ basketball, the North Ridgeville Rangers defeated the North Olmsted Eagles with a final score of 69-43. Opening the game, the Rangers won the tip-off and automatically scored, making the score 3-0 within the first minute. After that, both teams went back and forth until the Eagles started to pull away with an early lead.

The Rangers quickly responded by tying up with the Eagles late in the first quarter, making it 13-13. At the end of the first quarter, the Rangers took the early lead, and the Eagles led by one point. As the second quarter started, the Rangers quickly extended their lead, forcing the Eagles to take a timeout.

At this point, the Rangers led by 6 points with a score of 25-19. The timeout worked in the Rangers’ favor, keeping the lead the rest of the quarter and extending the 6-point lead to a 12-point lead. At the end of the first half, the Rangers led the Eagles 33-21.

Opening the second half, the Rangers continued to keep their lead, not letting the Eagles get any points besides 2 made free throws by the Eagles. The Eagles quickly called a time out in hopes to ice the Rangers with the new score being 40-23. After the time out, the Eagles came out hot with 9 unanswered points, shrinking the Rangers’ lead to 40-32.

This caused the Rangers to call a time out, which worked heavily in their favor, helping them increase the lead again throughout the rest of the 3rd quarter. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Rangers kept their lead, making the score 51-35 at the time.

Starting off the 4th, it seemed like the Rangers fully found their groove, slowly increasing their score. The Eagles did not want to back down, having a few good defensive plays and rebounds, but just seemed to not be able to put the ball in the basket.

Although in the lead, Ridgeville ended up calling a timeout to find more ways to score, with the score at the time being 57-35.
The Rangers did not back off until late into the 4th quarter, trying to hold the ball to let the clock run down. The final buzzer sound with the Rangers bringing home a win for the team, with the score being 69-43.

The top scorers for the Eagles were Peyton Johnson, Guliana Sharp, and Emilee Meyer. The top scorers for the Rangers were Lauryn Bohannan, Brooke Schroeder, and Adri Spyres.
