Lutheran West Rolls to 55-25 Win Over Orange

FAIRVIEW, OH – Tonight for girls basketball the Lutheran West Long Horns Faced the Orange Lions. Opening the game the Long Horns won the tip off, with the first point being scored by Long Horns’ number 21, Aliciana Medina making the score 1-0. Answering that score, Lions number 23 Courtney Norton made a 2 point shot making the score 2-1. Both teams went back and forth for a couple shots before the Long Horns would begin pulling away. 

 

With 22,Addy Esposito making both her few throws and a 3 pointer, number 12 Maddie Kandrach getting back to back points, causing the Lions to take a time out. The score was then 14-4 at the end of the first quarter.

At the start of the 2nd quarter, Long Horns’ number 12 Maddie Kandrach making a nice drive and layup and number 52 Sunny Meyer making another 2 pointer increasing the lead to 16-4. 

 

The Lions answered with a 2 pointer from number 11 Isla Osterman getting them back in the game, making the score 16-6. The Long Horns were playing lock down defense for a while, also with number 23 Ava Carter draining a 3 making the score 19-6. Then Lions number 11 Isla Osterman got an offensive rebound and scored making the score 19-8. This caused the Long Horns to take a time out, with it working to their advantage making their lead bigger. At the end of the 2nd quarter the score ended at 24-8. 

 

Opening the 3rd quarter number 23 Ava Carter with a 3 which made the score 27-8. Orange fought back in the third closing the score gap making it 30-16 causing the Long Horns’ to take a time out. The time out once again worked for the Long Horns’ scoring unanswered the rest of the 3rd quarter ending it at 41-17. 

 

The Long Horns’ continued to go unanswered besides a singular point off a free throw by the Lions. With the score now being 50-17, Lions number 25 Brie Turner made 1 out of 3 free throws which made the score 50-18. Both teams again went back and forth scoring, ending the game with the score of 55-25 resulting in a Long Horns Victory. 

 

The top scorers for the Long Horns’ were number 23 Ava Carter, 12 Maddie Kandrach, and 22 Addy Esposito. The Lions top scorers of the night were number 11 Osterman, number 23 Courtney Norton, and number 10 Adele Tokmazesky.
