At 6-7, the chances are high the Kansas City Chiefs will not play in the Super Bowl this season, let alone even make the playoffs. Many may be surprised by that, but when you look at the history of the teams who have lost a Super Bowl returning the next season, you shouldn’t be!
There have been 59 NFL Super Bowls. In that time, only 8 times has seen the team who lost the prior season play in it the very next year. Out of those 8 times it has happened, only 3 times has the team who lost the year before, bounced back to win it the next season.
That 3 times out of 58 tries coming into this season is less then 11%. Frankly, it almost never happens and for the 3 teams that actually won then next year, that is only a little over a 5% success rate.
With that being said, is anyone truly surprised by the fact the Kansas City Chiefs more than likely won’t return to the big game this season, let alone win it? Again, I repeat, in 58 years, only 3 times has the team who lost the prior years Super Bowl have come back the next season and won it.
The “Losing the Super Bowl Hangover” is a very real thing!
Take a look at the 8 who have done it in the past.
