St. Ignatius wildcats are on their way to the state final!
The St. Ignatius Wildcats are on their way to another state final! After outscoring their opponents 23-0, the wildcats took on St. Charles Prep in a re-match of last year’s state final.
After a tight first half, the wildcats took the lead through a 42nd minute goal from senior, Dom Ruggiero, on an incredible assist from senior, James Bartlett. Bartlett’s long pass reached Ruggiero just outside the who was being double teamed.
Ruggiero beat the defenders and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. This goal proved the decider and placed St. Ignatius in Monday’s state final against Dublin Jerome at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus.
These team met last month at Krenzler field with the wildcats coming from behind to win 2-1, read more about the game here: https://keeonsports.com/saint-ignatius-wraps-up-2025-regular-season-with-a-2-1-win-over-dublin-jerome/ as well as our spotlight article on senior, Dom Ruggiero: https://keeonsports.com/soccer-spotlight-st-ignatius-wildcat-dom-ruggiero/
