Week 10 Friday Night Lights saw a celebration of the seniors at Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium,
as the 7-2 (4-1) Hudson Explorers looked to play spoiler against the 4-5 (3-3) North Royalton
Bears.
The first quarter saw two very long drives with two very different outcomes. North Royalton QB
#17 Nolan Klingbeil started hot, but was extinguished to end the opening drive, being picked
off at the 4-yard line by Hudson CB #3 Anthony Paolucci.
Despite the poor field position, the Explorers charted territory down the field, marching 96 yards as QB #18 Hayden Lipinski found his RB #44 Reno Ferri 13 yards out to put Hudson up 7-0 at the end of the first.
In the second period, Hudson would dominate defensively, forcing two quick punts in
succession. As a result of the stops, the Explorers tacked on a 31-yard field goal from K #83 Ian
Katz, and the longest TD of the game, a 47-yard catch and run from TE #16 Nathan Judy to give
the Explorers the 16-0 advantage after a missed PAT.
Lightning would strike twice in North Royalton, as the tight end Judy found his second score of the game from 4 yards out to make the halftime score Normandy 23, North Royalton 0.
It didn’t take long for matters to go from bad to worse for North Royalton, as they gave up
another touchdown on the opening drive of the third quarter. This time it was RB #26 Brennan
Funyak that had an entourage to the end zone from 21 yards out to make it a 30-point Hudson
lead. The running clock would do its job, taking the quarter to an end at 30-0.
The fourth quarter saw minimal action, as both starting QBs hit the bench for two very different
reasons. Hudson would find the endzone one more time to rub some salt in the Bears’ wounds,
as RB #34 Ethan Hall rounded the corner for his lone touchdown, finalizing a statement win for
the Hudson Explorers at 37-0 over the North Royalton Bears.
Both teams’ regular seasons came to an end Friday night, as Hudson finished 8-2 overall, and
