CVCA remains unbeaten with 35-7 win over NDCL

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio –  The CVCA Royals remained perfect on the year thanks to a 35-7 victory over Notre Dame Cathedral Latin on Friday evening.

How did things get started for the Royals offense?

They won the toss and elected to receive possession to open up the ball game. It only took one play to find the scoreboard as junior tailback Zac Anderson broke free for a 69 yard touchdown run. The Royals led 7-0 following the successful point after.

NDCL drove down the field, getting to the Royals 34 yard line. They looked to get on the board, but came away empty handed following a missed field goal attempt. It only took one play for the Royals to add to their lead as senior tailback Joey Kopec broke free for a 66 yard touchdown run of his own, increasing the lead to 14-0.

The Royals came up with three interceptions on the evening. The first came from senior Dirk Geiger to give CVCA great field position. After a successful fourth-down conversion, Tommy Kopec found the end zone for a four yard touchdown run. CVCA led 21-0 with 3:22 left in the first quarter.

Charley Levak would scramble for a 14-yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 28-0 midway through the second quarter. After another NDCL punt,  Levak tossed a 26 yard touchdown to Tommy Kopec, further increasing the margin to 35-0.

The Royals lead stood at 35-0 going into the halftime break. The third quarter featured three combined turnovers, as junior Braeden Ryan recovered a fumble for NDCL, and senior Brayden Harris picked off a pair of passes for CVCA.

NDCL prevented a shutout thanks to an eight yard touchdown run from junior tailback Casey McInnerney with 6:25 left to play for the final margin.

CVCA remains unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Conference. They travel to Padua next Friday, October 17th, to continue conference play. NDCL drops to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the North Coast Conference. They travel to Elyria Catholic to continue conference play next Friday, October 17th.
