Catching Up on the Cardinals: Ball State Athletics weekly results


Here are the results for Ball State Athletics from the week of Monday, Sept. 29, to Sunday, Oct. 5.

Thursday (Oct. 2)
Ball State soccer (5-4-2, 2-2-1) defeated Ohio 2-0 on the road. Senior Addie Chester scored both goals for the Cardinals, which gave her eight on the season and 20 in her collegiate career.
Ball State women’s volleyball (7-8, 3-0 MAC) defeated Northern Illinois 3-0 for its third-straight conference victory. Sophomore Carson Tyler led the Cardinals with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Friday (Oct. 3)
Ball State women’s volleyball (8-8, 4-0 MAC) topped Western Michigan 3-1 to remain undefeated in MAC play. Tyler recorded her ninth double-double of the season, leading the Red and White with 15 kills and 14 digs.
Ball State field hockey (3-9, 1-3 MAC) fell to No. 19 James Madison 5-0. The Cardinals recorded seven shots on the goal in the loss.

Saturday (Oct. 4)
Ball State football defeated defending MAC champion Ohio 20-14 at Scheumann Stadium. Redshirt senior receiver Qian Magwood scored the game-deciding touchdown in the final two minutes that capped off a 20-point unanswered scoring run.

Sunday (Oct. 5)
Ball State field hockey (3-10, 1-3 MAC) fell on the road to Richmond. The Cardinals had 13 shots on the goal, but none found the back of the net.
Ball State soccer (5-5-2, 2-3-1 MAC) dropped a home match to Western Michigan 2-0. Ball State sophomore goalkeeper Kate Pallante recorded five saves in the loss.
Ball State women’s tennis found the winners’ circle as the duo of Sarah Shahbaz and Isabel Tanjuatco won the MAC Indoor Doubles Championship after knocking off UMass. They remain undefeated this season, with a record of 11-0 in matches played.
