Glenville Tarblooders showcase true skill in 47-0 victory over the John Marshall Lawyers

Another edition of Friday Night Lights? Well, this game took place at 4pm, much earlier start than usual for me but there I was. This game was shaping up to be a dominant performance by Glenville from all reports that I saw before the game. But as a sports fan, I know that every team has a punchers chance on the right day. With the Lawyers coming in at 1-4 and the Tarblooders coming in at 3-2 and a convincing 41-6 victory over John Adams, I can see why some reports had Glenville winning by a landslide.

These teams have a history with each other but it’s usually Glenville who reigns supreme over John Marshall. With last year’s matchup ending in a 48-6 win for the Tarblooders at home. This time the game took place at John Marshall’s home field, so the goal was to protect it. I didn’t know what to truly expect but I knew I was in for some good football!

This game got out of hand pretty fast with the Tarblooders starting off the game with a gunning attack and overwhelming the Lawyers. And unfortunately for John Marshall, this was the story of the game for them. I usually take the time to cover the game quarter by quarter but I’m taking a different approach because of the high level of skill displayed by Glenville. This was one of my more unique games to cover because it was attack after attack. With multiple passing touchdowns from Arvell Nelson Jr.  to the likes of Deanthony Crittenden and Jordin Johnson. Glenville had their foot on the gas the entire way through. With a methodical, yet explosive attack that John Marshall had no answer for.

Glenville’s defense was stifling, multiple 3 and outs and forced turnovers. John Marshall was essentially covered the whole time. Glenville’s backline was everywhere at all times. The Safeties and DB’s played in a zone primarily and it gave the Lawyers problems every step of the way. Paulo Sadler the senior, Aaron Scales, Jordon Johnson, to name a few highlight players.

It was truly a remarkable performance from the Tarblooders. As they move to 4-2 and get ready for next week’s game. I think I can highlight the coach Ted Ginn Sr. for such a great game-plan overall to shut out the John Marshall Lawyers in a 47-0 victory.
