Strongsville Mustangs Methodical Play leads to 29-26 win vs the Cleveland Heights Tigers

Strongsville defeated Cleveland Heights 29-26 tonight in a key GCC Clash.

The Mustangs received the ball first and took their time going downfield. They slowly took their shots with a mixed game of pass/run. They got all the way to the one yard line and gave it to their big Senior, and Texas A&M recruit, Storm Miller(cool name might I say), to run it in for the first touchdown of the night.

They added a little bit of salt to the wound with a two-point conversion. The Tigers got a chance at the ball around the 3:45 mark and unfortunately went 3&out. The Mustangs took advantage of the punt with a clean block and recovery for another touchdown on the board by none other than Storm Miller. The 1st quarter ended with Strongsville having a 14-0 lead.

The second quarter began and the Tigers started to pace themselves a lot better with some read options that took them straight down the field for a 1 yard run by QB1 Lamarques Greenwood.  The Tigers went into their next defensive drive with some conviction and some staggering defense. Once they received the ball, the run attack commenced and Strongsville had no answer for it as #22, John Morris delivered on a six-yard touchdown. The Score was then, 12-14 as the Tigers could not convert on either of their extra point opportunities. Strongsville closed the quarter with a field goal to go up by 5. The first half score was 17-12.

The 2nd half of the game started with some electricity. The Tigers threw the defense off by going with a couple run plays and then deciding to launch it for a 68 yard passing touchdown to Henry Perrymomd in the first two minutes. The Mustangs followed this up with an 80 yard drive that ended with a 7 yard rushing touchdown by Austin Tatulinski to take a 23-18 lead. The 3rd quarter remained at 23-18 due to some great defense from both sides. Both teams truly realized the moment and locked in on defense.

The 4th quarter was a bit different with Strongsville getting a stop and scoring on a 60 yard drive. Austin Tatulinski was responsible for the touchdown that made the score 29-18. The freshman, Tatulinksi, I could hear his teammates on the side giving high praises for how tenacious he was. I also got some commentary from the coaching staff about offensive lineman Quentin Young, who was doing a great job blocking for Tatulinski. The Tigers did not lay down at all, they returned the favor with an 88 yard passing touchdown by Sirr Gibson with Lamarques Greenwood converting on the two pointer to make the score 29-26. It started to heat up in the cool weather and the 4th quarter looked to be a good one with 6:35 left to go. The Tigers tightened up on the defensive and caused a fumble at their 40 yard line. Unfortunately they could not convert on a 4 down drive and the Mustangs ran the clock out for a 29-26 win.
