Berea-Midpark Explodes for 48-34 Victory at Brecksville Broadview Heights

Brecksville, OH –  Vince Weaver went 23 of 31 for 365 yards with 3 touchdowns tosses to lead the Berea-Midpark Titans to a 48-34 win at Brecksville this evening over the Bees.  He was aided by a strong running game that saw Xavier Harden carry the ball 20 times for 103 yards with 2 touchdowns while co-back Arpan Tamang ran it 8 times for 46 yards with a score.

The passing game had plenty of weapons tonight for Weaver to utilize with Dylan Maddox catching 4 balls for 54 yards, Nick Reece caught 5 balls for 124 yards and two scores.  Tyson Clay caught 6 passes for 73 yards and a score.  Clay also had a kickoff returned for a touchdown as well.  Andre Alexander hauled in 3 passes for 39 yards.

The Bees had plenty of firepower as well with their dynamic quarterback Nate Henegar throwing for over 300 yards with 3 touchdown passes himself.  His top receiving targets were Carson Zabkar who hauled in 6 passes for 122 yards and two scores while Bryndan Williams had 7 catches for 88 yards and a score.  Max Ritter also caught 4 balls for 69 yards. The Bees were also fueled by tailback Jacob Eterovich with 16 runs for 89 yards with two touchdowns.

The Titans opened the game with a drive starting from the 20.  A few quick strikes got them to midfield in no time where they faced a fourth and three. A 10-yard pass completion to Alexander kept the chains moving. Back-to-back Harden runs provided the next first down as the drive moved inside the Bee 30 before a 25-yard pass to Maddox put them at the Bee 2-yard line. A few moments later a Harden run crossed the goal line as the Titans jumped ahead 7-0 with 8:02 to play in the first quarter.

After the teams exchanged punts, the Bees took over from their own 46 yard line. A few plays into the drive, Henegar found Williams on a one-yard pass that Bryndan Wiliams took the next 31 to score, tying the game at 7 with 2:09 to play.

The next Bee drive started in great field position as well, as they began from the Titan 36 yard line. The Bees wasted no time a few plays later, connecting on a 31 yard touchdown pass to Zabkar to take a 14-7 lead with 11:56 to play in the first half. The Titans wasted no time answering on the next kickoff as Clay took it 98 yards to the house, tying the game at 14.

A 43 yard pitch and catch from Weaver to Reece made it 20-14 as the extra point was blocked.  This came after a punt gave the Titans great field position.  The score moved the lead back to the Titans with 9:16 to play.

A 53-yard hookup to Zabkar got the next Bees drive buzzing quickly.  A 4 yad touchdown run by Jacob Eterovich tied the game at 20 with 6:45 to play in the opening half. This made for 40 total points, only 18 minutes into the action.

Arpan Tamang did it on the ground and in the air on the next Titan drive, racking up passing and rushing yards.  It resulted in a 13-yard touchdown run to place the lead back in the ledger of the Titans 27-20 with 3:24 to play. The Titans took that lead into halftime.

Nick Reece picked off a Bee pass to start the second half. One play later, it was a 47-yard touchdown pass to Tyson Clay instantly making the Bees pay, handing the Titans a 34-20 lead.

Down 14, the Bees needed a rally and got one with a beautiful drive to answer.  A nice mix of run and pass got them deep in Titan territory. They capped it off with a 11-yard touchdown pass to Zabkar. This made it 34-24 Berea-midpark with 8:10 left to play in the third quarter.

It didn’t take long for the Titans to answer yet again. This time the score came on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Weaver to Reece, increasing the Titan lead to 41-27 with 4:32 to play in the third quarter. The third quarter ended by that same score.

Midway through the fourth, Xavier Harden extended the Berea-Midpark lead with a driving 15-yard touchdown run.  This increased the lead to 48 – 27 with 6:12 to play in the game.

The Titans went to win 48-34 from there.
