Stow, Ohio – The Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs scored 37 first-half points on the way to a 44-8 victory over Cleveland JFK Thursday night.
Stow won the opening coin toss and elected to receive to open up the game. Jake Harrington found senior wide receiver Andy Rickelman for a 65-yard touchdown reception after the opening kickoff. The Bulldogs led, 7-0, 16 seconds into the game.
The defense also stepped up, forcing a sack in the end zone for a safety, increasing their lead to 9-0. Junior tailback Caden Boyd returned the ensuing free kick for a touchdown, bumping the margin up to 16-0.
After forcing a Cleveland JFK punt, the Bulldogs found the end zone once again. Jake Harrington connected with Andy Rickelman for an 11-yard touchdown, increasing the Stow lead to 23-0.
Harrington added one more touchdown toss in the first quarter, connecting with Dayton Keeling. The Bulldogs would lead, 30-0 after one quarter.
Cleveland JFK forced a pair of turnovers in the second quarter, as Arion Woods and Sadareion Paul each recovered fumbles.
Junior tailback Mikel Staats found the end zone for a two-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 37-0 with 2:40 left in the second quarter. They would take the lead into halftime.
Cleveland JFK found the scoreboard on the opening possession of the second half.
Sophomore quarterback Aaden Shepard completed a pass to K’Shaun Cummings to put the Fighting Eagles deep into Stow territory. Shepard would find the end zone from two yards out to put Cleveland JFK on the board. He added the ensuing two-point conversion, making the score 37-8 late in the third quarter.
Shepard also had a fourth-quarter interception to give Cleveland JFK another chance to cut into their deficit. However, Stow stopped the Fighting Eagles on downs. The Bulldogs would cap the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run from freshman Laurence Stephenson with 2:56 left.
Stow wraps up their non-conference schedule at 2-1. They host Twinsburg to open up Suburban League National Division play next Friday, September 12th.
Cleveland JFK drops to 0-3. They host John Adams to open up Senate Athletic League conference play.
