The Berea-Midpark Titans Will Their way to a 28-7 Victory over the Brunswick Blue Devils

BRUNSWICK, OH – The Blue Devils started the game with the ball and things looked a little shaky on their part, some nerves as it was the first game of the season, extremely normal.  This led to Sean Barnett throwing a pick on their first drive on the opposite goal line and was followed up by a Vince Weaver fumble first play of the season. Both teams locked in and followed this up with touchdowns on their second drive as they knocked the first game jitters off fast! Barnett to Gavin Moore connection for a 12 yard touchdown and then the Titans came right back with a 8 yard touchdown pass for Berea-Midpark from Vince Weaver to Nick Reece.

The Blue Devils ended the first quarter with a pick to Andre Alexander and the Titans started the 2nd quarter off with a methodical pace mixing in the run and pass. A lot of play action to keep the defense on their toes. The Titans looked to take it down the field as they made it all the way to the red zone and almost converted one of the closer calls I’ve seen with a dropped catch in the end zone. The Blue Devils get the ball and go with a run attack until an offside call forced them to go to the pass. Sean Barnett then threws his 3rd pick of the game to Dillon Maddox for a pick 6 to make the score 14-7.

As the 2nd quarter progressed and the Blue Devils received the ball back and made their way down the field. Barnett threw yet another pick to the linebacker, Bryce Bunner to end the half. Luckily for them, the score was only 14-7, with all the mistakes made, there was still a lot of football to be played! 4 INT’s in one half for the Berea-Midpark defense.

The Berea-Midpark Titans started the half off with the ball. They eased their way down the field to get close call again on 4th down in redzone and turn the ball over at the 20 yard line. Brunswick then goes for their 5th Pick of the night on 3rd down which leads to 30 yd TD pass to #1 Nick Reece for Berea-Midpark. After a 3 and out by Brunswick, they punted it to the Titans.

After a long back and forth in the 3rd, the Titans converted on a drive again to start the 4th quarter with a 15 yard TD run by Vince Weaver to go up 28-7.

All in all this was an action packed game, Vince Weaver and Nick Reece have a special connection and it’s something to look forward to for the Titans this season. As for Brunswick, their QB Barnett has a lot of athletic upside to his game but they have to figure out how to do better at beating coverages. Both teams have something they can look forward to for the year. T

The final score of the game ends at 28-7

Player of the game – The Berea-Midpark Defense with 5 interceptions.
