The University School Preppers began their 2025 season with a 42-0 victory vs the Brookside Cardinals Thursday night. For the Preppers, early on they could do no wrong, as they scored on their first three drives of the night. Their first drive was a sign of things to come, as they ran, a lot. Senior RB Aaron Kim, who was their workhorse all night, ran the ball 8 times for 47 yards on the drive alone, including his 8th and final run, which was a 17 yard TD run.
After sophomore Nico Morelli tacked on the 2 point conversion the Preppers lead 8-0. The drive was also aided by Senior QB
Carson Panteck who completed a pass of 10 to his brother, senior WR Caleb Pantek and 19 yards to fellow senior Cameron Ryan.
Following a turnover on downs by Brookside, on their 2nd drive, University School was back at it. They handed the ball to senior Dan Miklus for 2 yards, twice to sophomore Michael Papouras for 7 yards, and once to Kim for 5 yards before the QB Carson Pantek took things into his own arm and found Cameron Ryan for 27 yard touchdown pass to extend the University School lead to 15-0.
After another turnover on downs, University School went back to their bread and butter, the run game, as they ran the ball all but twice on a 14 play touchdown drive. Miklus ran the ball twice for 12 yards on the drive, the QB in Carson Pantek showed he can run, with an 11 yard run.
The star of the drive though, Aaron Kim, who ran the ball 7 times for 59 yards, which included 13 yards that ended with him scoring his 2nd touchdown of the night to give University School a 22-0 lead, in which they took into halftime. After exchanging punts with Brookside to begin the 3rd quarter, University School put on a passing display, as they scored on a 75 yard drive with 4 passes, which included a 5 yard pass from Car.
Pentek to Collin Milbourn, 6 yard pass to Ryan, a 9 yard pass to Papouras, and for the touchdown, a 56 yard touchdown pass to Ryan on what appeared to be a run-pass-option, in which Car. Pantek found Ryan on a slant route, Ryan ran past a bunch of would-be Cardinal tacklers for the big play, which made the lead 29-0.
Following a Brookside 3 and out, University School got the ball back and went back to their calling card, the run game. At QB, Nicco Morelli showed off his legs for a rush of 3 yards. It was his big running back in Kim who did most of the work though, from 41 yards out Kim scored his 3rd and final touchdown, making it 35-0 with the PAT being no good.
On their final drive of the night, some young guys got to get some run under the Thursday Night Lights in Sheffield Village. Sophomore Sam Butler ran the ball twice 6 yards. The star of this drive, in his first high school football game, freshman Kasey Mathews ran the ball 3 times for 55 yards, 41 of those yards coming on a big touchdown run to give the Preppers their final points of the game.
Brookside, despite the final score, battled the entire game. Junior QB Mason Waechter battled all game, moved around, and has a good arm. He showed off on some throws, including towards the end of the game when he found fellow junior Jorden Colegrove for 29 yards, and another fellow junior Alex Arra for 23 yards. Junior RB Trevor Kitzberger was a strong RB who
did not go down easy for the Cardinals.
With the win, University School improves to 1-0 as they will host Bay Village next week. As for Brookside, they fall to 0-1, and will host Woodridge next week.

season last year is crazy for many to hear. Tonight, the senior star carried the ball 21 times for
177 yards. Kim showed a ton of speed and went around players, could go through guys, and
was agile enough to make players miss
