When a show goes 7 hours of nonstop action, A LOT is going to happen! While the length of this PPV is a story in itself, it actually delivered despite the insane amount of time the show was on air. In fact most things that did go down were more then noteworthy and game changing for the promotion suddenly back on the rise. Let’s take a look at the moments that stood out the most to us.
Moment – Adam Copeland saves Christian Cage from a post-match beatdown by FTR and Nick Wayne.
Impact – AEW may finally give everyone the re-union fans have been asking to happen for years! This should make for some good watching!
Moment – The Young Bucks lost to Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay
Impact – This gives The Young Bucks another chance to take some time off while making Ospreay and Strickland a legit threat to become the face of the tag division.
Moment -Adam Cole may have to retire
Impact – He has been snack bitten since leaving NXT, this is just the latest in a long run of injuries and bad long for the once cannot miss signing.
Moment -Dustin Rhodes wins the TNT Championship at 56 years old
Impact – Even if it doesn’t last long, the 16-year-old kid in me cheered this hard. Dustin Rhodes is one of the true good guys left!
Moment -Juice Robinson Returns
Impact – Hey,,,, how about that? Ummmm, who cares…
Moment -MJF will once again contend for the AEW World Championship
Impact – Him wining the Casino Royale wasn’t a shock, but seeing how many got involved made this one really fun and it will be fun to see when MJF cashes that title shot in.
Moment -The Death Riders lose the Trio’s Championship to The Opps
Impact – This was long overdue, but then the post-match attack on Samoa Joe kills all the momentum and heat instantly.
Moment -Athena wins the Women’s Casino Gauntlet
Impact – A long time coming and it was nice to see Athena finally get her flowers on a brand people actually watch. She was fire on NXT all those years ago and has floundered. Hopefully this actually leads to something.
Moment -Merces Mone loses for the first time in her AEW career.
Impact – I’m honestly shocked. The Mone loss pretty much makes the AEW TBS Championship Belt that she has been carrying the past year look useless, or at least second tier.
Moment -Okada takes 31 plus minutes but defeats Kenny Omega
Impact – A match of the year like we all thought. This takes a belt of Omega and also gives him a clear path to any feud he wants moving forward.
Moment -Josh Matthew is now with AEW
Impact – I actually really like Matthew and feel he never got his chance in WWE outside of the bizarre moments in ECW and then the early days of NXT. I’m happy he is here.
Bryan Danielson, Darby Allin, Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland assist Hangman Page in defeating Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship.
Impact – A rough night for the Death Riders as they lost all their gold. This should set up for an eventual rematch for the AEW World Championship between Page & Ospreay. It was also great storytelling to have everyone come back and help Page. The same group of people who Moxley destroyed at various times. Good irony there!
