Panchiko Concert Review

Review supplied by Isiah McCully

When telling people about what my favorite concert I’ve ever been to is, I never hesitate to immediately say Panchiko. The first time I saw Panchiko, it was exactly two years ago at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland. They played with LCD and The Search for God and Horse Jumper of Love. I even got to meet them after the show.

Two years later, the experience is just as incredible watching Panchiko tour for their new album Ginkgo. Before the show, the opener, Model/Actriz fully sucked me in with their incredibly stage presence. Stage presence isn’t even the right word as it felt like they were on the floor, in the crowd, more than they were actually on the stage. The best way I can describe their set was that I was in the middle of the dance floor in the Iceberg Lounge in Gotham City. After getting the audience on their feet, it was time for Panchiko.

Panchiko of course played the usual songs that you would expect them to play, notably All They Wanted, and D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, but they also sprinkled in a few from their new album. This venue was actually a bit of a step up from when I had seen them last in capacity (woo-hoo!!) but the intimate experience more or less stayed the same. To conclude, Panchiko has only improved since their last time in Cleveland, and have honestly become noticably more comfortable on stage. From 4chan to your local venue, you’ve gotta see them. Panchiko.
