Edge and Christian are perhaps the greatest Tag Team in WWE history, if not the greatest Tag Team of all time in pro wrestling history. The last time they tagged up full time was in 2001, it is hard to believe but that was 24 years ago. Almost doesn’t seem possible that it has been that long.
Between the two, they have had amazing singles careers after their initial split in 2001. Christian went on to become a World Champion in the original TNA, the WWE version of ECW and eventually WWE World Champion. He has gone on to be a force since signing with AEW in 2021, doing some of the best work of his career.
Edge is a 2012 WWE Hall of Fame inductee and has been a force in the wrestling world for 4 decades. The 90’s, the 00’s, the 2010’s and now the 2020’s. Edge, can make a case for being one of the Top 10 Heels in Pro Wrestling History as he has held every title the WWE had.
They could both walk away from the ring tomorrow, and no one would feel cheated at this point, they have done it all. But, still, even all these years later, fans still crave that one thing that WWE never provided, “The Reunion”. They have had plenty of singles clashes, but we never got that one last run as a team and now time is running out.
AEW has been criticized heavily for their treatment of Adam “Edge” Copeland since his arrival in the company as they have made him look like a total joke. Time and time again he puts his trust in the wrong people and gets outsmarted. He cannot win a match and they even changed his name to “COPE”. It has been an awful run for Copeland in AEW.
With FTR being the latest team to get the best of Copeland and him in desperate need of a partner, it makes all the sense in the world to reunite him with Christian. It is the only way to salvage this abysmal run and finally give AEW fans a WWE like memorable moment. They may try Bryan Danielson in the meantime and that would be a nice pop, but let’s face it, everyone wants Christian.
Tony Khan can salvage two years of crappy booking with Adam “Edge” Copeland by making this one move in time for All In in Texas. Why not?
