Often times when a team has a Superstar the likes of which of Olivia Klanac, others can get lost in the shuffle, but that is not the case this time, anything but! Medina Bees Abby Dress and Addy Shook went from first time varsity starters this year to impact players. Shook is one of the toughest kids I’ve ever covered and Dress is a threat to drain one from anywhere on the court as she had incredible range.
Shook is so tough it isn’t even funny, she gives up her body for the greater good and doesn’t shy away from any matchup. Meanwhile Dress is a threat to score from anywhere she gets the ball. In games when the defense is face guarding Klanac or double teaming her, it is Dress who steps up and makes them pay like Tim Misny! They are both dynamic and keep the future of Medina Bee basketball looking very bright.
I spoke with their head coach Karen Kase who had this to say about the exciting juniors, “These two are a dynamic duo and complement each other very well. They’ve been playing together since grade school and are on the same AAU team.
Both of them are excellent athletes but in very different ways. Abby is a great shooter & passer and has become a reliable rebounder this season. She has a high basketball IQ and positions herself well on both ends of the court. She does a lot of detail things that go unnoticed and often takes on the task of defending bigger posts. She works really hard out there.
Addy has taken a huge step forward this season in terms of consistency and being a go-to player. She is one of the top female high school athletes I’ve seen and she can really leap and really get to the rim. She makes electric plays for us, whether it’s an And-1 or a high-flying block. She can do things that most other high school players cannot, simply due to her athleticism. She has a lot of versatility & toughness to play every position for us and she has worked on her strength and rebounding and outside shot as well.
I’ve asked these two to step up on the court and emerge as captains. They have embraced the responsibilities, learned so much in their first 3 seasons, and now have a ton of experience that will be beneficial in their senior year. “
