Today Kenston and Kent Roosevelt faced off in the second round of the Baron Cup. Kent Roosevelt won the opening faceoff and continued to hold the puck on Kenstons half well. Both of the teams had about equal time with the puck early but it seemed like Kent Roosevelt controlled the puck better.
Kenstons goalie Number 30 Logan Linsz played a great game in the first period holding off Kent Roosevelt. As it got later in the first Kenston started to hold the puck more but they were not able to get any good shots off. As the period started to end both teams started having close shots on net but both remained scoreless at the end of the period.
At the start of the second Kenston won the faceoff and continued to hold the puck on Kent Roosevelts half but Kent Roosevelts goalie number 62 Brooke Binder was able to stop Kenston from scoring. Eventually Kenston’s number 12, Gavin Rowell scored the first goal of the game. Both of the teams had more good looks on net but both were not able to score making the score of the game 1-0 at the end of the second period.
At the start of the third, Kent Roosevelt won the faceoff but Kenston was very quick to take it back and get the first shot of the period. Kent Roosevelt came out strong in the third not letting Kenston get any good shots on goal and started creating more opportunities for themselves. Eventually Kenston switched to puck in their favor and got another goal scored again by Kenstons number 12, Gavin Rowell, making the score of the game 2-0.
Both teams kept fighting for possession of the puck getting good looks on goal until Kent Roosevelt decided to do a six man ride pulling out their goalie which ended up as a goal for Kenston with number 21 Reece Newpher scoring a goal from behind half making it 3-0. The game soon ended with Kenston bringing home a 3-0 win over Kent Roosevelt making them move on to the second round of the Baron Cup.
