A Sami Zayn heel turn is now set in place. He will have heat with Cody Rhodes from kicking him in the face a few weeks back and now the beatdown Rhodes just laid down on Kevin Owens over a concerned Zayn, will just add to that drama. All of this mixed in with Zayn’s “friend” Jey Uso eliminating him from the rumble, just makes it all too clear the Zayn heel turn is coming as early as this Monday night as Zayn now has serious heat against the two biggest babyfaces in the company with Rhodes and Uso.
The men’s rumble instantly killed two storylines without having any payoff to either. Why in the world was Fin Balor and Braun Strowman in the match? Both were left for dead less then a month ago, and suddenly are 100% fine and in the match. By doing this, you completely wasted the destructions they suffered from Jacob Fatu and Damien Priest. Those two entries did nothing and should have gone elsewhere. They should have went to NXT guys Trick Williams who could have eliminated his old rival Carmelo Hayes and Ethan Page.
A CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns storyline seems to be in full force after their out of the ring rumble after being eliminated. Punk has that favor to cash in at anytime with Paul Heyman, which leads me to believe a three man match goes down at WrestleMania with Heyman turning on Reigns to help Punk win in the main event of Night One. Just a thought, but not sure what else the payoff of having Punk in this would be as the match everyone wants is Rollins vs Reigns.
I’m also starting to think John Cena doesn’t win a match or get a title shot until WWE SummerSlam later this year. If not, then he will need to win the Chamber match next month for a shot at Cody Rhodes. What seemed like a sure thing Rhodes vs Cena match at WrestleMania, may not be as sure as we thought. However, with Reigns, Rollins and CM Punk all tied up, no match other then Cena or Randy Orton would make too much sense for Rhodes to have.
What makes Joe Hendry so popular? I’ll be honest, I’ve seen him wrestle in TNA and now in WWE and I’m simply not getting it. What am I missing here? Outside of a catchy theme song, I don’t see the appeal. This guy is the likes of a Val Venis and Hardcore Holly with what he actually brings to a match,. Again, I’m not seeing it, yet.
Is Gunther versus Jey Uso III a sure thing? I say “III” because Uso has already lost to him twice as he challenged for the IC title and World Title both times coming up empty. I love Jey Uso in this match and think it was smart to have him win. The only other winner of the Men’s Rumble that would have made sense would have been CM Punk. Cena, Rollins, Reigns and Drew had all won once or even twice before themselves. Uso is red hot and needed this big win, he needed to win something big. If you recall, his IC Title Reign lasted all of two weeks.
Damien Priest eliminating Drew McIntyre made no sense and I would have to agree that it may have been a mistake. Were LA Knight and Logan Paul in the wrong place at the wrong time? It appears that way. A DP vs Drew feud was already done over the spring and summer, what sense does this make? It must have been a mistake.
No Randy Orton, No The Rock, No Solo and you know what, I don’t think fans missed any of them.
At the end of the day, here is an early look at what WrestleMania “may” look like.
Gunther vs Jey Uso
Rollins vs Reigns vs CM Punk
Cena vs Cody Rhodes
Zayn and Owens vs ????
Becky Lynch vs Rhea Ripley ( again, really?)
Tiffy Stratton vs Charlotte
So much still to be decided….
