Westlake Demons with a Dominant Dual Win over North Olmsted Eagles 63-13 in the CWC

The Westlake Demons earned a huge win over Cleveland West Conference rivals North Olmsted 63-13. The Demons are poised to be quite impressive in their conference meet, as they won in dominant fashion with pins left and right. The Demons had a ranked wrestler in #10 Chase Morgan at 126 pounds who wrestled a weight class down today at 120 pounds, while the Eagles had a ranked wrestler in #24 Matthew Chalkwater at 165 pounds. 106 lbs: FORFEIT

113 lbs: Jake Hunter (WLAKE) DQ Aiden Rindall (NOHS): Hunter got into a body lock situation that produced a Rindall takedown. Rindall then took a 5-0 lead but after a strange series of events, ended up being disqualified for a coaching matter. North Olmsted not only dropped the match, but lost a team point as well.

120 lbs: Chase Morgan (WLAKE) FALL Michael Bauman (NOHS): Morgan, as one might expect, was dominant in this match snatching 2 takedowns and a cradle to win by fall!

126 lbs: Brandon Ailoa (NOHS) DEC. Kellen Kocab (WLAKE) 4-3: Kocab hit a textbook single leg and a rideout to end the 1st period in what would become an exciting match. Alioa tied the match 3-3 with a double leg takedown to end the 2nd period. Kocab and Ailoa BATTLED, with Alioa winning by decision!

132 lbs: Tanner Moore (WLAKE) FALL Nathan Holtz (NOHS): Moore showed the gym his expertise from the neutral position, setting up a single leg takedown and then a NASTY ankle pick to go up 6-1. An Eastwood tilt allowed Moore to scoop up 3 more nearfall as he ran an arm bar to grab yet another 3 nearfall. A cradle by Moore ended with the fall for the Demons!

138 lbs: Phill Kennedy (NOHS) TECH FALL Brayden Cho (WLAKE) 17-2: Kennedy, in a sneaky yet dominant performance tonight for the Eagles not only against Valley Forge but Westlake too, turned his single leg into a dump for 3 points. Kennedy showed off his arsenal of scoring with a low single to go up 6-1. Kennedy hit tilt after tilt after tilt in a scoring fest. Kennedy went on to win his 2nd match of the night by tech fall!

144 lbs: Cole Schefft (WLAKE) FALL Stanley Campbell (NOHS): Schefft got to work early, gaining 7 points off a takedown and turk in the blink of an eye. After he locked up a cradle, Schefft got the pin for the Demons.

150 lbs: Hamzah Gheith (WLAKE) FALL Donny Ghazoul (NOHS): Ghazoul and Gheith traded takedowns in what looked to be a tight match. Gheith locked up 4 nearfall after an exchange near the edge of the mat. Gheith brought the heat and extended his lead 11-3. ANOTHER 4 nearfall for Gheith and he led 15-4. Gheith then capped off his dub with another pin for Westlake.

157 lbs: Kyle Allain (NOHS) DEC. Ryan Christofferson (WLAKE) 4-0: Neither wrestler could score in the 1st period. Allain got an escape on bottom to lead 1-0 but it still looked as though both guys were not giving an inch. Allain then locked up a clutch 3 point nearfall to take the 4-0 lead. He held on and got the win for the Eagles.

165 lbs: Matthew Chalkwater (NOHS) FALL Nabiel Qasem (WLAKE): Chalkwater proved yet again to wrestling fans why he is ranked in the state. An insanely fast takedown led to yet another takedown. Chalkwater showed off his strength with a big boy body lock into the fall!

175 lbs: Omar Wahdan (WLAKE) FALL Charles Osboene (NOHS): Wahdan’s single leg went right into a half nelson. Wahdan continued Westlake’s pin fest as the Demons continued to roll.

190 lbs: Dean Zupan (WLAKE) FALL Mohammed Muntaser (NOHS): For a second, it looked like Zupan would come away with another fast fall after a double leg turned into a half-nelson. Muntaser fought off his back but he had no answers for Zupan and his disgusting double leg takedowns. Zupan is your winner by fall!

215 lbs: Sammy Salem (WLAKE) FALL Robert Quarles (NOHS): Salem, not to be outshined by his teammates, picked up another pin just 30 seconds into the match!

285 lbs: FORFEIT

Westlake not only dominated on the mat against Lakewood, but they showed why they are real contenders for the CWC title this year with another dominant win against rival North Olmsted. It was a pin party for the Demons, as they host the CWC championships and hope to continue the party on February 8th.
