NFL Playoffs Show Why The Cleveland Browns Must Draft A Quarterback With The #2 Overall Pick

The Cleveland Browns badly need a stud number one wide receiver.  The Cleveland Browns badly need another shutdown corner.  The Cleveland Browns badly need a dynamic player that can become one of the faces of the NFL.  Travis Hunter out of Colorado can do all of that for him, but they shouldn’t pick him.

The Cleveland Browns need another defensive end to line up on the opposite side of the line as Myles Garrett. A guy who can take pressure off the rest of the defensive line and wreak havoc.  The Cleveland Browns need a player so fast and strong he almost requires a double team. They can select that man in Abdul Carter, Edge rusher from Penn State.  But they should not pick him.

Why should they pass on two cannot miss products with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft?  The answer is simple, they cannot ignore the history staring them directly in the face.  12 of the 14 starting quarterbacks in this seasons NFL Postseason were first round draft picks.  Many of which went in the top 10.

I already know what you are saying, they already have two first round selections on the roster in Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston.  The cold truth to that is Watson may never again take a snap in the NFL and Winston has already proved he is not a fit.

It is a cruel truth that many so called “experts” are already saying this is a weak QB class, but quite frankly, the Browns needs to take a chance on Cam Ward.  Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix both showed this year what a talented first round quarterback can do to a terrible team.  Neither the Broncos or the Commanders made many changes this past offseason other then drafting a quarterback with a high first round pick.  Look what happened.

Again, fans will argue, but the proof can be found in the below chart and as the saying goes, “numbers don’t lie”.  The Cleveland Browns need to use the #2 overall pick on a quarterback. I don’t care how talented the rest of your team is, you are going nowhere with out a franchise quarterback.   It is that simple.
