113 lbs: Conall Gannon (AVONLAKE) FALL Dominic Nofel (BMHS): Nofel scored a takedown as time expired at the end of 1, making the score 3-0. After a wild reversal after a Gannon cradle with 4 nearfall points, the score was 8-8! Another Gannon takedown brought the score to 11-9. With 0:30 to go, Gannon got two more nearfall finishing with a pin!
120 lbs: Caden Bristow (AVONLAKE) DEC Danny Curtin (BMHS) 9-6: Curtin hit a WILD takedown after an AMAZING high level scramble bringing the score to 3-0 after 1. Curtin hit another big takedown and rideout making the score 6-0 at the end of 2. Bristow escaped and got a takedown of his own, making the match 6-5! BRISTOW WITH THE NEARFALL TO WIN 9-6!
126 lbs: Nate Grieger (AVONLAKE) FALL Collin Mikulka (BMHS): A slow-starting match saw Grieger with a takedown to make the score 3-0 at the end of 1. Grieger forced Mikulka to his back to gain 4 nearfall at the beginning of the 2nd. Greiger did not yield a single point and won by pin.
132 lbs: Kaeden Lademann (AVONLAKE) FALL Branden DeBlasis (BMHS): DeBlasis started FAST racking up 9 points in less than a minute. After another quick takedown made the score 12-2. Lademann hit a sweet reversal to nearfall making our score 12-8 in favor of DeBlasis midway through the 2nd period. Lademann however had a few tricks up his sleeve, in a wild series of events, ended up with the fall.
138 lbs: Jack Valerino (AVONLAKE) FALL Peyton Smith (BMHS): Valerino score two nice takedowns and with a Smith escape, the score was 6-1 at the end of the 1st period. After an Eastwood tilt turned into a fall, Valerino was the victor.
144 lbs: John Lutsock (AVONLAKE) FALL Morris Ross IV (BMHS): This match was all Lutsock who got the pin from a half nelson pretty fast to gain the fall.
150 lbs: Andrew Kidwell (AVONLAKE) FALL Keagan DiCillo (BMHS): DiCillo opened up the scoring making it 6-0. Kidwell with a huge lat drop however stopped DiCillo right in his tracks, winning by fall.
157 lbs: Will Schnabel (AVONLAKE) DEC Xaviere Harden (BMHS) 15-9: Harden and Schnabel went after it during the 1st period, but Schnabel maintained the 7-2 lead going into the 2nd. Schnabel dominated but a huge Harden nearfall and reversal brought the score to 10-9 Schnabel at the end of 2. Harden fought tremendously, but Schnabel ended up victorious 15-9.
165 lbs: Luke Peace (AVONLAKE) FALL Austin LaForce (BMHS): WHAT A WILD FIRST PERIOD, 4-4 with 1:10 left, LaForce locked up a huge cradle to gain 4 nearfall on Peace. After another exchange, Peace got an escape and takedown bringing the score to 12-9 LaForce. Peace tied it 12-12 with a minute to go in the 2nd. Peace came alive, and got the fall late in the 2nd.
175 lbs: Noah Finley (BMHS) DEC Landen Kunzelman (AVONLAKE) 11-9 : Finley grabbed a go-behind takedown and brought the score to 3-0 at the end of 1. After starting the 2nd period from the bottom position, Finley hit a wild reversal. End of score at the end of 2 was 7-0. Kunzelman had fight though, scooping up a reversal from bottom and gaining nearfall points in a wild series of events making the score 8-6 with a minute to go! KUNSELMAN WITH THE HUGE TAKEDOWN TO TIE IT 9-9! FINLEY WITH ICE IN HIS VEINS GETS THE REVERSAL TO WIN 11-9!
190 lbs: Aide Omoijuanfo (AVONLAKE) DEC Ian Stewart (BMHS) 10-3 vs. : Omoijuanfo got to work with a quick takedown and cut his opponent making the score 3-1. At the begininning of the 2nd, Omoijuanfo scored another takedown in a wild sequence making the score 9-3 after a Stewart escape. The 3rd period was all Omoijuanfo as he rodeout Stewart to win.
215 lbs: Leonidas Lavdas (BMHS) FALL Max Cruz (AVONLAKE): Lavdas with a half nelson into a pin only a minute into the match! He is the winner by fall.
285 lbs: Jackson West (AVONLAKE) FALL Tyler Visnic (BMHS): In the big man matchup, West got to work with a quick takedown and scooped up 4 nearfall points to boot. At the beginning of the 2nd period, West got a wild pin to win.
In a rather lopsided dual, Avon Lake impressed with falls while Berea-Midpark impressed with high scoring and takedowns. While the Titans may have dropped the dual, there is still a ton of wrestling season left as they look to bounce back. The Shoremen were dominant, and should be dominant throughout the rest of the season in SWC action!
