Cavaliers Continue To Impress

Kenny Atkinson has been what seems to be the missing piece of this team. I am not referring to a player, but the new head coach of the Cavaliers. Prior to being with the Warriors from 2021-2024, Atkinson was the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016 to 2020. There, he coached not only Jarrett Allen, but also Caris LeVert.

This team chemistry is unmatched and it seems to have rolled over from his days coaching the Nets. A simple Google search will show the excitement of the bench during games, and has been seen from the very start. The Cavs moved on to a 3-0 start and they look to keep their win streak alive. Now, the Cavs have not faced ‘contenders’ as some would say, however these are not close wins. The Cavaliers win margin is +20.3, trailing only the Warriors.

With the bench having a huge impact, the man behind the wheel is Ty Jerome. He was hurt all last year, but to see him healthy and prove what he can do is amazing. In only 17 minutes a game, Jerome is averaging 13.7 points per game on 73.7% shooting. Right behind him is Caris LeVert averaging 12.7ppg. The rest of the bench fills their roles nicely, helping the flow of both offense and defense move fluidly each game.

Yesterday, the Cavs showed it, beating the Washington Wizards 135-116. Jarrett Allen had a perfect game, shooting 10-10 and grabbed five rebounds. Evan Mobley continues his reign with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell showed why he’s a superstar, putting up 30 points, four rebounds, and five assists. The bench helped out with 44 points and 19 rebounds.
