Cavaliers Start Their Season Looking Good

The Cleveland Cavaliers took a business trip to Toronto yesterday to take on the Raptors in their first game of the season. The Cavs took a 33-32 lead to end the first quarter, with Evan Mobley looking like a MIP candidate this year.

The second quarter ended just how Cavs fans wanted, with a 69-49 lead. This huge lead gave Cleveland the momentum they needed going into the third quarter. With the Cavs scoring back-to-back 36 points in the second and third quarters, this game looked to be over. The Cavs bench had considerable playing time and didn’t give back the lead. The one stat that the Raptors had over the Cavs was the edge in rebounds, 38-36. Cleveland outplayed Toronto in assists, steals, blocks, less turnovers, and field goal percentage.

This was a great start to the season. New head coach Kenny Atkinson seems to have already put his mark on this team. Several players like Caris LeVert, Georges Niang, and Ty Jerome had a huge impact coming off the bench, combining for 44 points.

The best player was Evan Mobley. With 25 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals, and it wasn’t close. He and Donovan Mitchell lead the team with a +31.

Next Game – October 25th against Pistons
