Pumpkin Fest at Red Wagon in Columbia Station Earns Mixed Reviews

My family and I attended Red Wagon Farm today in Columbia Station for their Annual Pumpkin Festival.  We had mixed reviews of the day as our 11 and 8 year old both loved the Corn Pit and Corn Maze but found the wagon ride and play area both to be extremely uncreative and just kind of, “there”.

For those of you who like to enjoy the day with food and drinks, there was plenty of that as well.  The food was extremely overpriced as we spent nearly $60 on drinks and food for four, and we are talking about a very small pulled pork sandwich, small chili dog, two hamburgers and some soda. However, at the same time, the ice cream was not only cheap, but delicious!

A bit pricey to get in as well, as each wrist band gave you full access, but at $10, you are mostly paying for the maze and pit.  The best way I can explain the Wagon ride was truly just a bunch of things thrown together in the woods with little to no imagination.

My biggest beef was safety however, as they have a “game area”, which is basically just a bunch of stuff you can buy from Ollies or Big Lots for cheap, and just set up in a big field with zero supervision.  It was because of this lack of employee help, and zero employees even being out there, that allowed several kids to get nailed in the face with basketballs. Having zero supervision in the game area will lead to someone getting seriously hurt, and an eventual lawsuit.

All in all, was it worth the $10?  I will say that is a resounding yes.  It got us outside for nearly 4 hours and we did have fun.  Also, if you are not going there to buy a pumpkin, eat or drink, you can get in an out for $40 for a family of four.

The new bar outside patio looked really nice as well.  I realize a bit of this article sounds negative, but I believe it is fair to tell all sides of a story.  Pumpkin Fest goes through the end of October.
