by A babyface MJF taking on a heel Adam Cole could have been the biggest payday and payoff in AEW history. Instead, they blew it with some of the worst booking in Wrestling history, that continues to cripple a company that simply cannot get out of it’s own way.
They spent nearly all of 2023 building an arc that would see the ultimate climax of Adam Cole turning against his best friend MJF in a move shocking everyone, as everyone believed the entire time MJF would be the one turning on Cole. Instead, they wait until Cole is completely hurt and cannot compete for at least another 8-10 months, and have Cole unmask as the mystery man who was attacking babyfaces on Dynamite. The big reveal coming at AEW Worlds End on December 30th.
Before we go any further, let’s back up, again, you spent 8 months building a Mega Power tag team of Cole and MJF, only to have Cole turn against him and join his old buddy Roderick Strong. On the surface, I’m okay with that part, but why do it in December when you knew Cole wouldn’t be healthy enough to compete until late 2024. So now, you have this sudden rivalry and nothing to do with it.
Instead, you lose all steam, Cole’s group “Undisputed Kingdom”, went on to do nothing with Wardlow except completely wreck his character, as well as Matt Taven and Mike Bennet. With Bobby Fisch and Kyle O’Reilly already in the company, they completely botched re-uniting the group people actually wanted to see.
So, let’s move on. Nothing happened for nearly 10 months as MJF went away and then came back a Heel. Because that made ZERO SENSE! MJF could have come back as the Ultimate Babyface at a time where AEW badly needed one. The second he came back as a heel and attacked Daniel Garcia, it made the entire angle with MJF and Cole pointless.
So, just to prove how naïve and willing to cheer any carny nonsense they see the AEW fan base is, they cheered Cole this past weekend when he rushed out to confront MJF. How in God’s name does this make any sense? You’re cheering the guy who screwed over his tag partner and best friend? The entire reason if any, these fans cheered Cole was because he is the most recent of the two to return. Again, NONE of this makes a lick of sense.
Please, I beg you to use common sense AEW fans, please leave me a comment on how or why Adam Cole is the face in this feud?
