by The Field Falcons had a mindset of run the ball and play good defense, they did both tonight. Falcons running back Drexal Mcamis rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns to lead Field to a 37-10 victory over Cloverleaf. The Falcons passing game was not neglected as quarterback Peyton Anderson completed 5 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. On the other side of the ball Cloverleaf failed to move the ball effectively and only had 39 passing yards. The Colts didn’t even manage to find the end zone until late in the fourth quarter.
On the opening drive of the game the Falcons drove 41 yards down the field capped off with a 1 yard touchdown run by Drexal Mcamis. However, a missed PAT made the score 6-0. Cloverleaf’s opening drive was ended with a failed fourth down conversion on their own 47 yard line. Not long after getting the ball back Drexal Mcamis scored again on a 7 yard touchdown run, a successful 2 point conversion put Field up 14-0 in the first quarter.
In the second quarter Cloverleaf failed on a fourth down conversion for a second consecutive possession, this set up Field’s offense on the Cloverleaf 45 yard line. After driving down the field Drexal Mcamis would score his third rushing touchdown on a 1 yard run to put Field up 21-0. Cloverleaf finally put a drive together late in the half resulting in a 39 yard field goal by Austin Suserstic to make the score 21-3 with Field leading at half.
The Falcons drove down the field on their first drive of the second half which ended with a 40 yard field goal by Alec Grimm to make the score 24-3. Cloverleaf’s first drive of the half ended with their third failed fourth down conversion. Field’s next drive would result in a 28 yard touchdown pass from Peyton Anderson to Mikai Peeple to extend the lead 31-3. Cloverleaf failed to respond as they turned the ball over on downs for the fourth time and the third quarter ended with Field leading 31-3.
In the fourth quarter Cloverleaf finally found the end zone as Ashton Gray had a 5 yard touchdown run to make the score 31-10 with Field leading. However, Field quickly answered with a 57 yard touchdown run by Drexal Mcamis putting Field up 37-10 in the fourth quarter. Late in the fourth quarter Cloverleaf’s backup quarterback Nathaniel Tomes threw an interception that resulted in Field running out the clock to win the game 37-10.
