ROCKY RIVER (September 19, 2024) – The Northeast Ohio Foundation for Patriotism (NEOPAT), announces the continuation of their Salute to Service initiative at local high school football games this fall.
Current schedule Salute to Service games include Barberton High School at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent and the Bay Rockets at the Rocky River Pirates at Rocky River High School.
The teams will recognize, honor, and remember local veterans and military families during each event including:
- Kent native, Theodore Roosevelt alumni, and U.S. Army Specialist, Adam S. Hamilton on September 20
- Rocky River native and alumni, USMC LCpl Daniel R. Scherry on October 25.
These young men, along with countless others gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
Each game will have a Flags of Freedom display of American flags making a visual impact and providing team building and volunteer opportunities to the students with the setup and removal.
Additionally, clothing items to support the veterans at the Freedom House will be collected on-site during the Kent Roosevelt game, and canned food items will be collected on-site to support the Rocky River Assistance Program during the Pirates game.
These games, along with other initiatives year-round at local high schools and universities, are a way to inspire our communities to help and serve others and promote patriotism and civic pride while honoring and remembering our nation’s heroes.
