St. Ed’s Quarterback Thomas Csanyi received plenty of playing time last year as a backup, considering the amount of times he subbed in for an injured Casey Bullock. In those outings, he had a few ups and downs and Friday night was no different. Csayi went 11 of 21 for 188 to lead the Eagles to a 28-0 victory over the Pickerington Panthers. The signal caller had 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions along the way.
If the Eagles are going to stride towards a fourth straight title game however, it will be on the legs of running back Brandon White who came of age last season. White finished the night with 90 yards on 21 carries, not a stellar night for him, but not too shabby either. He had a touchdown in the win as well.
As mentioned, Csanyi had 3 touchdown tosses, those went to the hands of Zach Hackleman, Joe Saffold and Mason Sak. Hackelman will be counted on to be the workhorse of this crew, as he had 3 catches for 71 yards while Saffold had 3 for 48 yards. The offense looked a bit slow early on, but eventually caught up with the incredible defense that pitched the shutout.
The Eagle defense was staunch folks, they weren’t about to allow anything to the Panthers. They held Panther quarterback Jarin Mock 6 of 18 for 81 yards. They also held the Panthers to just 65 yards on the ground in 25 attempts.
The Eagles will look to stay hot next Saturday night as they host St. Josephs Prep.
Congrats to the Eagle JV team who won 7-0 and the freshman team who won 21-14.
