The Field Falcons Hold on to beat The Mogadore Wildcats in Close Game

The Falcons started the season with a clear focus on the running game with senior running back Drexal Mcamis. Field running backs Drexal Mcamis and Victor Brown had 212 yards on 42 carries and a touchdown run by Mcamis. This effective run game led the Falcons to a 14-12 win over Mogadore. This victory also marked the 100th win of coach Matt Furino.

Mogadore was inconsistent throughout the game and they eventually paid the price as incomplete passes and turnovers ended promising drives. The Wildcats had a decent run game as running backs Aaron Rumschlag, Cole Reese, Conner Lehner and Maddox Smith combined for 121 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts. The passing game was not efficient as Wildcats quarterback Karson Jaber completed 4 of 11 passes for 72 yards and a critical interception late in the game.

Field did not pass the ball very often, however, when they did it was effective as quarterback Peyton Anderson completed 3 passes for 55 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. This included a beautiful throw to Peeple for a 33 yard touchdown in the fourth. Field Falcons wide receiver Mikai Peeple had 3 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Both offenses started slow as the game was scoreless after the first quarter. However, the Falcons scored on Drexal Mcamis two yard touchdown run to start the second quarter going up 7-0. But the Wildcats struck back when Conner Lehner scored on a 48 yard TD run in the second quarter. This led to a 7-6 score at halftime.

A scoreless third quarter kept Field up 7-6 going into the fourth. However, Mogadore Wildcats running back Cole Reese suffered an injury during a run in the third quarter. But a Peyton Anderson pass to Mikai Peeple for a 33 yard touchdown put Field up 14-6 in the fourth.

The Wildcats continued to struggle on offense in the second half when Aaron Rumschlag fumbled the ball in the third quarter ending a promising drive for the Wildcats. However, a 25 yard catch by Nick Stephenson led to a Aaron Rumschlag 3 yard touchdown for Mogadore in fourth. Mogadore then failed the 2 point conversion to make the score 14-12 with Field leading late in the fourth. The Wildcats got inside Field’s 5 yard line with just over a minute to go but a Victor Brown interception would end the game as the Falcons kneeled it out.

Players of the game
