by Employees of Macy’s Great Northern were told the bad news earlier this week, and that news was that their location will be closing for good in January of 2025. A source close to the situation revealed this, “With all the talk of businesses closing, I just wanted to make sure you knew that Macy’s Great Northern Mall is definitely closing at the end of January. I work there and they told us last week. They are trying to keep it under wraps for now, but it’s been talked about. They still will have new merchandise for Xmas but then it’s over.”
The reason given to employees for closing was too much needed for repairs on the building. There were investors interested in it last year but it fell apart apparently.
They are opening a version of Macy’s backstage at Crocker in the old Bed, Bath and Beyond space. Making matters worse, employees were told they can’t transfer there but they can go to University or Strongsville.
Making matters just a bit puzzling is despite the economy, the store is still profitable and fulfills a ton of online orders. Foot traffic is down however.
