The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the first and only men’s league designated by USASA as a Tier 1 national league, is proud to announce that Niagara 1812 has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will begin play in 2024.
“We are excited to continue our growth in the Midwest Region, expanding the NPSL brand in the New York soccer community,” NPSL Director of Membership Development Dina Case said. “Niagara 1812 boasts a strong leadership group with decades of soccer experience. This organization is poised to experience great success on and off the field.”
The club’s leadership includes COO/Operations Lead Carmine Provenzano and Head Coach/Technical Lead Lucio Ianiero.
Provenzano has over 35 years of coaching experience in soccer and four years of experience as a builder.
“The NPSL is an extremely important league, and we are humbled to be included,” Provenzano said. “Because the NPSL is player and owner centric, we know it puts our players in a great position to fulfill their aspirations.”
Ianiero is a retired Canadian Men’s National Team player with coaching experience in the Canadian Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League, Canadian National Soccer League, and National Professional Soccer League.

“We bring a proven, experienced, and professionally minded organization, having run a successful program in the past which we built from the bottom up, creating credibility and integrity in the foundation of the program. The on the field product is most important, but we made our gameday experience a priority for our players and spectators,” Provenzano said. “We have a dedicated group of people at Niagara 1812 with like-minded core values, integrity, and credibility. They all want to be part of a well-organized and very important project.”
