One Choice Left to Face Gunther at WrestleMania 40

Brock Lesnar is out for good in the WWE, thus scrapping the original WrestleMania 40 plan for him to put Gunther over at WrestleMania.  Gunther is fresh off wins against Sami Zayn and Jey Uso in the last month as well.  With Uso headed for a match against his brother Jimmy at WrestleMania and Zayn apparently set to turn heel, that doesn’t leave us with many options for the big man to defend his WWE Intercontinental Title against at the show of shows.

Despite Bobby Lashley being the perfect candidate for a big man vs big man match, it also appears that they want to keep Lashley heavily involved with the feud between himself, The Street Profits and The Final Testament.  WrestleMania may see some gang warfare, with that possible match being a part of it.

Thus, with all that being said, no Lashley, no Zayn, no Lesnar and Owens on Smackdown apparently headed for a rematch with Logan Paul, it appears that the only story that would make sense is Bron Breakker.  As you may or may not recall, Breakker was the last man to defeat Gunther in a match.  It was Gunther’s final match in NXT on his way out the door as he put over Breakker.  Over the last 5 plus years, Gunther has only lost twice, once to current NXT World Champion Ilja Dragunov and that one loss to Breakker.

Clearly, they are keeping Dragunov in NXT to feud with Carmelo Hayes while they prepare to main event and tear down the house at NTXT Stand and Deliver.  Breakker is on Smackdown as a fan favorite, despite being a “tweener” in NXT where he tags with the hated Baron Corbin.  They are fresh off of winning the Dusty Memorial Tag Team Tournament.  Can they somehow find a way to make this happen despite being on separate brands?

So, with all that being said, if not Breakker, then maybe Randy Orton?  At this point, I simply do not know who makes the most sense.

A returning Sheamus?  Randy Orton out of nowhere? Bobby Lashley?
