Story written by Jon Adams of Berea-Midpark
On an evening where a lot went right for Strongsville and not much for Berea-Midpark, the Mustangs came away with a 41-13 victory on Friday at George Finnie Stadium.
Quarterback Luke Devins was 15-of-26 for 113 yards and a touchdown. However, the Strongsville defense harassed the sophomore signal caller all evening, spurring the Mustangs to victory.
Kade Swisher led the Orange and Blue in rushing on the night. The junior recorded ten carries for 75 yards, including a 55 yard run after receiving the hand off from Devins and following lead pulling blocker Jared Bycznski around the left side. Junior Ronald Williams III had five caries and the team’s first touchdown of the evening in the fourth quarter.
DeAngelo Borders caught five passes for the Titans on the day for 55 yards and a touchdown, in which he split two defenders and raced 43 yards for the score. Sophomores Devin Johnson and Jack Arnold each had double digit receiving yards on the night, as Johnson hauled in four receptions for 33 yards and Arnold tallied 25 yards on his three receptions.
Defensively, The Titans front four showed up in the Strongsville backfield on numerous occasions. Beau Bachie led the team with four tackles, including three behind the line of scrimmage. Senior Cameron Siggers also recorded a tackle for loss and sacked Strongsville’s Tyler Wolters. Chase Ivancic, Jon Lyons and Connor Reynolds each had three tackles in the game.
