Grafton, OH – The North Ridgeville Lady Rangers completed the season sweep over Midview tonight with a 55-48 road victory. It was a special night as two female head coaches led their squads on National Women in Sports Day! Congrats to both coach Esser and coach McNamara-Cole for molding young lives.
The Rangers were sparked by hot shooting from Grace Kingery to spot them to a 8 point first quarter lead and then extended it to 9 by halftime at 30-21. As mentioned, defenses can place a focus on trying to stop Kingery, but few have had luck pulling it off. Tonight, she went for 10 in the first quarter and 8 in the second as part of a 29-point night for the talented senior. Kingery hit four from long distance and went 5 of 6 from the charity stripe as well.
Assisting Kingery in the scoring department was Brooke Lime with 13 while CC Bouman had 6 and Reyna Balderas scored 5. Finishing the scoring for the Rangers was Alyssa Eland with 2.
The Middies were sparked by their dynamic underclassmen Leah DiFranco who put in 18 to go along with team leader Erica Baldoza who had 19. With Baldoza and DiFranco, the Middies remain a threat to win every game they tip the ball off in. Helping DiFranco and Baldoza on the scoring end was Sam Pebworth with 7, Maggie Barnes with 3 and Aliana Stacey with 2.
The Rangers have a huge game at home this Saturday as they host Berea-Midpark. The Rangers have an outside chance at a three-way tie for the SWC Crown as they only have two losses, both coming to Olmsted Falls. Meanwhile, Avon Lake has two losses, both coming to North Ridgeville. If Avon Lake can defeat Olmsted Falls again, 3 teams in the SWC would have the same conference record.
The Lady Middies will finish their SWC season this Saturday at Avon.
