Here are the Hot Takes from a wild Episode Two of this season of The Bachelor on ABC.

Who doesn’t like cake?

The episode starts off with Lauren smashing a piece of Red Velvet cake in her face, and then up against the wall.  Not sure if Joey is into anger with his women, but I would have sent her packing the second I caught wind of that if I were him.  Later on, she breaks down thinking about her dad who recently passed away.  I went from disliking her, to feeling for her.

In the end, we find out the cake scene was actually from the end of the show, and that was a flash forward.  What a swerve!  Somewhere the writers of LOST are super proud.

Don’t play cards with Lea

The casino may not be a good idea for a first date with Lea, as she seems to really hate cards!

Evalin jumps over the table in a heated game of Musical Wedding Chairs.

Evalin is bad ass! Joey is an athlete and wants to be with athletes, that move showed passion and the will to win.  It may have seemed drastic, but for someone who is all about getting that “dub”, I’m all for the table leap on a date that is rather cliché.

Jess likes kissing

Listen, it is what it is, they all rang the glasses, what did you think was going to happen? You keep setting Jess up, she is going to keep going for the kiss. In the end, she winds up with the group date rose.  Her strategy of kissing is working.

Rachel gives a toast and gets a dance.

Michael Bolton on the scene, fresh out of the morgue and ready to sing his oner hit wonder, oh, and you better believe I sang along.  “When a Man Loves Woman!”  Impossible not to like that, I mean clearly, they are in love after 5 minutes.  All joking aside, early into the season, the group dates can be a bit silly, but this one was fun for good reasons, and I’m glad Rachel got to have that moment.

Maria slips into something more comfortable

You know, some people just know how to make friends and leave an impact.  Clearly Joey was gaga for the new outfit and decided to forgo words, and just let his tongue do the talking.

Daisey gets the first solo date.

She is quickly a fan favorite because of the hearing implant.  People want to root for her, and she seems genuine and someone who will be easy to want to see succeed. From a helicopter ride to a festival, what a cool idea for a first date.  Again, that is what makes this show so unique.

She was very nervous, but at the same time, still came across relaxed and down to Earth.  She goes into her medical history and that took some courage.  I’ll say it again, she will be a favorite moving forward.

Edwina wins the second solo date with Joey for winning the group date challenge.

Not much to say here other than it’s a little played out when the other girls act sad, and the winner has to act like she feels sorry for them.  I can do without that narrative moving forward.  This is a competition.

However, she bugs me, it is okay to be vulnerable, but I can already sense a possible mental breakdown on the horizon for this young woman.  She seems like a basket case waiting to happen.
