Olmsted Falls started out hot and didn’t look back in their big win today. Danielle Cameron got started early and drilled three threes in the first minute of the game and the Bulldogs were off and rolling and were up 9-2. Midview started to settle in on the defensive end and didn’t let the Bulldog pressure faze them and they finished the quarter strong. After one it was 16-9 Olmsted Falls.
From that point on the Bulldogs defense made it seem like there was a lid on the basket. The teams traded baskets to start the second and that would be the last points Midview would score. Olmsted Falls would finish the quarter on a 15-0 run and take a commanding 33-11 lead into the break. Danielle Cameron led the way for the Bulldogs scoring 17 points in the half.
The third quarter was much of the same. The Olmsted Falls defense not allowing anything. Midview was doing a good job in their zone on the defensive end but it wouldn’t translate to baskets. Once again, they would only manage to score one bucket and after a 13-2 third quarter, this one was pretty much over as it was all Bulldogs. They led 46-13.
The Middies would not stop fighting, however. They put together a nice fourth quarter and would outscore the Bulldogs 9-4 in the frame. This game was just too far out of reach and the struggles offensively to start the game made it almost impossible to fight back. Olmsted Falls would take this one 50-22. Danielle Cameron led the scoring as she rang in 21 points.
Other than the great defense the story of this game was rebounding and second chance points. It seemed like every shot the Bulldogs put up and missed they were all over it. They would get two or three shots almost every possession and when a great team gets that many shots, you’re in for a long night,
Coach Eaton said, “ Going for offensive rebounds can be a tiring thing but our girls are willing the make a play when the team needs it.”
