Olmsted Falls took this conference battle with a score of 62-38.
The game started out with both teams making what seemed like every shot and every shot but one for Olmsted Falls was made by Danielle Cameron. She scored 18 of her teams 21 points, missing only one shot. Kristen Kelley and Kayla Ferancy both had eight for Amherst as Olmsted Falls led 21-18 after one.
The second quarter was much of the same. Both teams going back and forth scoring buckets. Danielle Cameron continued to put the ball through the hoop adding ten more points giving her 28 points at the break. Kayla Ferancy added five more of her own giving her 13 for Amherst and the teams headed to the locker rooms with the Bulldogs leading 39-33.
Coming out of half is where the game completely changed. Olmsted Falls began putting the pressure on Amherst and making them take very difficult shots. This led to the Bulldogs defense not allowing a single point in the third and it extended the lead. Jesse Simon drilled three threes in the frame and Cameron added two baskets to make the quarter 13-0 and a 52-33 lead with one quarter to play.
The defense didn’t let up as again they began the last quarter. After a zero-point third quarter Amherst tried to get something going attacking the basket but the great defense was letting nothing in. Ferancy scored a bucket early, but it would not become a trend. Amherst would only score five points in the fourth. The terrific defense would end up being too much.
Olmsted Falls Head Coach Jordan Eaton said after the game that “ In the first half we allowed their best players get comfortable making tough shots. In the second half we did a great job making them uncomfortable.”
Uncomfortable is right. Only giving up five points in the second half after giving up 33 in the first is just an incredible buy in from the whole team defensively after the break.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Danielle Cameron. She scored 32 points, 28 coming in the first half. It wasn’t just the offensive end where she made an impact. She was everywhere defensively taking charges, grabbing rebounds, and contesting shots. Coach Eaton said that she deserves every bucket she gets on the offensive end for the effort she puts in on the defensive end.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday as Olmsted Falls travels to Avon Lake and Amherst hosts Elyria.

Very disappointing for my lady comets, I tip my had to falls they are well coached and are a great team. We got out coached again. This group is to talented to be 5-5 this year . I’m confident they will regroup. Go comets
Great first half by my lady comets , I think our coach just didn’t make the proper adjustments with Falls defense in the second half only scoring 4 points. We have a division 1 basketball player these blowouts shouldn’t happen .
Tough night for the lady comets O points in the 3rd quater and 4 for the half. I want to believe in this team . The clown who commented above about the coach and having a D-1 player and not getting it done is crazy . Coach is like 22-32 since he took the job isn’t bad considering we play in the toughest conference in the state . A lot of season left , go get ‘em girls!
It is interesting to me, this program seemed to be headed in the right direction. Even as five freshman started back in the COVID Season. Roberts, Darmos, Silvasy, Ferancy and Kelley. Then, you had Pleban, or as you Comet fans call her, “The Nazz” coming off the bench. What happened to all of that? I figured by this point, you could actually give my Bulldogs a run for their money. This is why our Bulldogs do so well, year in and year out, coaching! On a brighter note, thank you to this website for contiuning to give free coverage to these young women. The morning Urinal does a horrendous job.
