Aurora, Ohio – Aurora defeated Copley, 42-6, on Thursday night at Veterans Stadium.
The Indians got on the board in less than a minute, capping their drive with a 15-yard touchdown toss from Gabriel Mansel to Jacob Kuczkowski. Copley led, 6-0, less than a minute into action.
It didn’t take long for Aurora to respond, as they capped off their drive with a 27-yard touchdown run from senior tailback Enzo Catania. The PAT was good, and the Greenmen led 7-6.
After a Copley punt, Catania scored once again, increasing the Greenmen lead to 14-6. He would score once more, from four yards out, to further stretch the lead to 21-6.
Junior two-way player Tommy Tartarbini also got in the action. He recovered a fumble for the Aurora defense to give the Greenmen great field position. He later punched it in from four yards out, increasing the lead to 28-6.
Zack Pannetti added a ten-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, increasing the lead to 35-6. Copley drove down the field, looking to cut into their deficit, but Dominic Trivisonno picked off a Gabriel Mansel pass, and Aurora was in business yet again.
They capped off their scoring drive with a 15-yard touchdown run from Ben Lukasik, increasing their lead to 42-6 going into the half.
The second half was played with a running clock, and reserves from both teams got into the game.
Aurora moved their record to 4-1 and 2-0 in the SL American Division. They travel to Cuyahoga Falls on Friday, September 22nd.
Copley, now 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the SL American Division, hosts Kent Roosevelt to continue conference play on Friday, September 22nd.
