The Bay Rockets handled business tonight on their home field defeating the Valley Forge Patriots 34-0. Bay was powered by their running back trio of Charlie Rodgers, Brendan Spellman, and Rocco Ereditario. The trio combined for 333 yards and 5 touchdowns on the night. The Bay defense stood stall as well by forcing two turnovers on downs as well as two interceptions.
Early in the game, both offenses were driving the ball down the field. The Bay offense was the only one able to find the end zone though. The Rockets pounded the rock on their first drive with all 6 plays being runs. They marched 57 yards down the field and finished it off with a 3-yard touchdown run from Charlie Rodgers. Rodgers would add another touchdown later in the half from 65 yards out. Brendan Spellman joined the party when he went off on a 69-yard touchdown run to give the Rockets a commanding 20-0 lead. Brendan Spellman led the Rockets with 5 carries, 120 yards, and a touchdown. Charlie Rodgers added 5 carries of his own for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
The Rockets’ defense showed up in the first half as well. Between all the scoring drives, the Bay defense produced multiple big plays. On two occasions, the Patriot offense found themselves deep in Bay territory. On both drives, the Rockets produced 4th down stops to turn the ball over to their offense. Late in the 2nd quarter, the Valley Forge offense was driving once again. This time Charles Rice pulled down a big interception for the Rockets. Heading into the break, Bay held a 20-0 lead.
The Bay Rockets played shut out football for the remainder of the game. Valley Forge had a drive late in the 3rd quarter that found them on the Bay 8 yard line. Rocco Ereditario ended their drive with an interception in the end zone. Ereditario put his mark on the game in the 2nd half. He scored two touchdowns on offense and picked up that interception on the defensive end. For the night, Rocco had 11 carries for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those two touchdowns in the 2nd half were the only ones of the half for either team. Bay came out on top in dominant fashion with a 34-0 victory.
