This Weekends Draft May Be The Most Important Draft Of All Time!
How is this the biggest draft of all time you may be asking well there are a number of reasons why I say this. To most people this weekend is about the NFL Draft, but with my Cleveland Browns not picking until round 3 I for one have zero interest in watching it. But Also this weekend is the WWE Draft starting Friday night on Smackdown and finishing up Monday on Raw.
This will mark the 17th Draft for the WWE which does not happen every year last year for example did not have a draft and did not really need one. This year is different and its much needed as both shows have become a bit stale with the same wrestlers fighting on both shows and many fan favorites having little to no screen time. Also the fact that our Trible Chief The Universal WWE Champion Roman Reins is a part time Wrestler and they have Zero plans for him to fall any time soon. Last night it was officially announced they will be adding a new Championship belt for the show opposite of Roman, which to me all but guarantees he will be headed to Smackdown where its much easier to hide a part time champ on a 2 hour show rather a 3 hour Raw.
The only part of the Draft that could and would be negative at this point is the WWE finally has multiple established factions set up; i.e. Judgement day, LWO, The Bloodline, Imperium, Damage Control, etc; and they are destined to split them up because history shows that is what they like to do, and we all know they never change. with that being said this is a good way to break up long lasting tag teams to give them a chance to try a solo run with out the over played story of one turning on the other or one becoming Jealous. This is how I feel they will finally give Montez Ford his long over due push, as well as DeAngelo Dawkins.
This will be great for Superstars like La Knight, Barron Corbin, Karrion Kross, Nikki Cross, Piper Niven, Candice Larae, Johnny Wrestling, Dexter Loomis, Carl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Dolph Ziggler, and more who have had limited time in the ring due to the over abundance of the same stars every show.
One thing I am hoping is that Xavier Woods is the only New Day Member drafted that way once Kofi and Big E are cleared to return form their Injury’s they can just join the same show and reunite the NEW DAY
All in all as long as HHH is truly in charge and Vince McMahan is no where near the creative side this should turn out to be just what the doctor ordered. It will also be exciting to see who from NXT is called up.
