Midview won the game after a rough 1st quarter but came back to claim a dominating victory to move on to the next round. Midview beat St. Joe’s 54 to 34, on the scoreboard it appears to be a blow out, but St. Joseph stayed right behind Midview for majority of the game and has nothing to hang their head about.
The Mixed attack from the Jaguars gave them a short lead at the end of the quarter with just a margin of 1. The first quarter ended with a score of 8 to 7 as St. Josephs led the game.
Midview came out of the second quarter with a sense of urgency and purpose from Olivia DiFranco and Mary Meng who helped edge the Middies over the Jaguars in the second quarter. With shots falling their way they fell into the lead and a steady lead. St. Josephs tried to keep the momentum but saw it slip away slowly.
Midview ended the half with a 24 to 18 lead.
Midview got on a hot streak during the third quarter as it lead to Olivia DiFranco hitting a three that etched her name forever into the walls of Midview as she broke 1 thousand points on her career.
Coach Brittney McNamara-Cole had this to say on Olivia DiFranco breaking 1,000 points, “Having everyone here around here cheering for her, having her sister go off for the first time, its been wonderful to see.”
DiFranco continued to lead her team next to Mary Meng and her Sister Mya DiFranco who had a breakout game.
After Olivia DiFranco broke 1 thousand points The Middies eased their way to the finish line as the Jaguars could not match the scoring output towards the end of the game.
Olivia DiFranco scored 19 points as Meng and Mya DiFranco also scored in double figures in the victory.
