The Running Back is the position that most people credit to popularizing the game of Football as a whole. They sometimes say that America was built on running the ball, and to an extent that is indeed true. When the NFL first started, there wasn’t much passing that went on from the Quarterbacks, hence their stats being only decent in hindsight. Running Back is one of the most talent filled positions and one of the hardest to rank as a whole. These are some of the best athletes in the world, they must be fast and agile with the strength to shed off tacklers amongst many other tasks such as pass blocking on occasion, and being sufficient in the receiving game.

Longevity isn’t a huge factor in ranking Running Backs due to the fact that they usually last only around four years, on average. Historically, it’s pivotal to have a good Running Back, establishing a good ground game is the key to lots of success in the NFL over the years, and even with the passing stats improving every year, the run game isn’t going anywhere.
