WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 live from Montreal on the WWE Network is shaping up to be one of the greatest in company history. The lineup is loaded with big names and plenty of suspense. WWE fans have been convinced for quite some time that a Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns main event at WrestleMania is a sure thing, but suddenly, Sami Zayn has everyone thinking a swerve may be coming. Let’s look at that match and others set to go down on Saturday night.
Austin Theory (c) vs. Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Bronson Reed vs. Damian Priest vs. Montez Ford in an Elimination Chamber match for Theory’s United States Championship
Breakdown – While this bunch isn’t the group you typically expect to see in a Chamber for the World Heavyweight Championship, it does make sense here for the US belt. There has been plenty of speculation of Theory holding onto it and then defending against John Cena at WrestleMania in a matchup that was heavily rumored but didn’t occur at the event.
Rollins is over to the point where he doesn’t need it. Montez Ford would be a perfect fit as the rumor has been out there for awhile now about him making the next big jump into his career as a singles star. Gargano and Reed feuded over the North American Championship in NXT, so their history together is also something to watch for. Damian Priest is a former US champ himself, but it was a forgettable reign.
Prediction – Theory retains
Asuka vs. Liv Morgan vs. Nikki Cross vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya vs. Carmella in a chamber match for Bianca Belair’s RAW Women’s Championship.
Breakdown – Nikki Cross is the wildcard no one sees coming to look for here. Carmella has already feuded with Bianca countless times in 2021 and failed to capture her title, I don’t expect the WWE to go down that road again. Natalya is this generations Virgil, don’t expect to see her hand raised in a match that matters.
Asuka has the WrestleMania jinx going in full force as her record is not good, I don’t forsee that changing with another title match. As much as I hate to admit, WWE creative seems to be sold on Morgan, I don’t see it, but someone with the pencil must. The smart call is Raquel Rodriguez if you want the best match at WrestleMania possible. I do believe that no matter who wins, others will be added to this match and it will be made a fourway at WrestleMania.
Prediction – Liv Morgan
Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Bálor and Rhea Ripley) (with Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio)
Breakdown – Am I the only one who has had enough of the mixed Tag Team Matches with Edge and Beth Phoenix since his return? I don’t care to keep seeing it quite frankly. Let’s just get to WrestleMania already where it’s father versus son with Rey and Dom.
Prediction – Judgement Day
Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar
Breakdown – The WWE seems determined to have this match on every PPV except the one it should have been on in the first place, WrestleMania. This will complete the Lashley full heel turn as either win or lose, I see The Hurt Business back in business in full force with a post-match beatdown on Lesnar.
Prediction – Lashley as the years of everyone jobbing to Lesnar, continues to be repaid with him giving out receipts.
Roman Reigns vs Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Breakdown – The crowd will be electric and come unglued for Zayn. What was once thought of as strictly a squash match for Reigns on the road to WrestleMania, is now a blockbuster that is truly in doubt as to who will win. How big is the crack in the bloodline? With Jey Uso still in strife, and recently seen fist bumping Zayn, there is no sure thing in this match. It’s happened before in 2004 when Eddie Guerrero beat Brock Lesnar and screwed up the sure thing rematch everyone thought they were getting with Angle vs Lesnar. Now, can Sami Zayn give the WWE Universe a moment they will never forget?
Prediction – Reigns
