Solon pulls away in second half to top Glenville, 63-46

Cleveland Heights, Ohio – The Solon Comets picked up a 63-46 victory over Glenville in Game #3 of the ELB Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Comets were looking to build on their momentum from Friday night’s victory over GCC foe Brunswick. A 9-1 run in the first quarter helped their cause. Solon also sank a trio of triples in the stanza as well. However, Glenville fought back to close the deficit to 14-12 to end the quarter.

Solon managed to hit shots when needed in the second quarter to maintain their lead. They took a lead of six before the Tarblooders cut the deficit down to 27-26 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, Solon outscored Glenville, 18-8, to take a 45-34 lead. In addition to a strong defense, the Comets sank four triples in the stanza. Noah Morgan sank two, and Luke Kormuth had two as well. Kormuth had ten points in the quarter, also scoring on the inside.

From there, the Comets would continue to roll, and pull away for their second victory in as many nights.

Senior guard Rayquan Thompson had 21 points for the Comets, followed by 14 from sophomore forward Luke Kormuth.

Solon (6-7) travels to Kent Roosevelt next Tuesday evening in a non-conference contest.

Glenville (8-5) travels to John Marshall for a Senate League Lake Division contest. The Tarblooders were led by 17 from senior Jakobi Laster, followed by fellow classmate Domareyan Oliver, who had 14.
