It was a battle at Elyria Catholic High School as the Elyria Catholic Panthers played host to the Rocky River Pirates. The Panthers were hot from the opening tip and started the game on an 8-2 run. They went on to lead after the first quarter 12-7. The Pirates came out in the second quarter and played suffocating defense which led to offense. They ended the quarter on an 11-0 run and took the lead going into halftime 22-16.
The halftime scoring leaders were Emmy Convery with 6 for the Pirates and Isabelle Niederst for the Panthers with 7. Panthers forward Carter McCray came alive in a scoring-filled third quarter and helped the Panthers take a 36-31 lead heading into the 4th quarter. The Panthers had a dominate fourth, pulling away and maintaining a comfortable lead throughout the last quarter.
They ended up winning the game over Rocky River 54-38. The leading scorers for the Panthers were Carter McCray with 19 and Isabelle Niederst with 14. The leading scorers for the Pirates were Annika Mocho with 14 and Ava Patti with 9.
