Macedonia, Ohio – The Brush Arcs never trailed in a wire-to-wire, 63-47 win over host Nordonia Friday evening.
Brush got off to a 7-0 lead to start off the game, and used that momentum to end the quarter with a 16-4 lead. Damari Dammons had seven points in the quarter for the Arcs.
The Arcs would maintain that lead in the second quarter, as senior Pitt commit Marlon Barnes and junior Aliyy King each scored a couple of buckets in the second quarter. The Arcs would expand their lead to 28-15.
Nordonia would attempt to rally in the third quarter, cutting their deficit to 28-19. They got efforts from seniors Landon Naylor, and Mitchell Wiechecki. Naylor knocked down a pair of triples and had eight points in the quarter, and Wiechecki had four.
Brush countered thanks to the efforts of Aliyy King and Marlon Barnes. King had another pair of buckets in the third and eight on the game. Barnes had seven and an impressive dunk off an alley-oop pass late in the third. This increased the Arc lead to 41-31 at the end of three.
Nordonia cut their deficit to as small as seven, but could get no closer. Brush padded their lead thanks to triples from Kaleb Burge, Marlon Barnes, and Kevin Gaston. The ensuing 15-2 run pushed a 44-37 Arc lead to 59-39, effectively putting the game away.
The Brush Arcs (3-4) pick up their second consecutive win and host Oak Cliff (TX) next Thursday night. They were led by 21 points from Marlon Barnes (14 coming in the second half), and ten from Tyler Williams.
Nordonia (7-1) hosts Hudson next Tuesday to continue Suburban League play. They were led by 13 from Landon Naylor, followed by nine from Mitchell Wiechecki.
