Amherst Lady Comets Begin Season With 64-4 Victory Over Shaw

A lot is expected of the Amherst Comets this year as they are loaded with talent from top to bottom.  This team is picked as one of the sleeper teams to shock some opponents this year in the SWC with several returning stars and some of which, are 3-year starters.  They showed all of that today with a dominant 64-4 win at Shaw to tip off the regular season.

Leading the way for the Comets was Kristen Kelley who has consistently been one of the top players in the area.  Kelley finished with 18 points in the victory.  Kelley was one of four Comets to score in double digits today as fellow Comets Kayla Ferancy had 11 while Jayla Cruz along with Peyton Roberts had 10 each.

Ferancy is one of the top guards in the state and has huge expectations coming into her Junior year. Cruz has shown us time and time again how good of a defender she is, this 10-point explosion from her today shows she can play a well-rounded game as well.

The game was 58-0 after three quarters of action, as Amherst outscored them 28-0 in the first, 19-0 in the second and 11 – 0 in the third.

Also scoring for the Comets in the win was Abigail Bertke with 5, Natalie Pleban and Bradyn Silvasy each with 3, while Jocelyn George and Kylie Kimmich both scored 2 each.

The Comets will look to stay hot as they host Twinsburg this Monday night.

  1. I would like to see Amherst take the cupcakes off the schedule and play some teams this season with talent . This coach did the same thing at my alma mater Lorain High then fizzled in the playoffs each year .
