Midview lost tonight at home against Strongsville 35-27.
An exciting series of plays led to a 10 yard touchdown from senior quarterback Marc Reed to put Midview up 7-0 with 4:34 left in the first. The Mustangs responded quickly with a 4 yard touchdown of their own from freshman Skyler Vanrachack. It took them less than a minute as they scored with 3:56 left in the first.
Surely after the Mustangs touchdown the middies would respond with another touchdown of their own. This touchdown came from senior wide receiver Mason Kucera with a 34 yard catch from Marc Reed, the senior quarterback.
With 1:46 left in the 1st the Middies would go up 14-7. With great difference from the Middies at the end of the first they would force a punt. Mason Kucera would took it 25 yards before running out of bounds at the end of the first.
A 6 yard touchdown from Marc Reed with 10:35 left in the quarter gave the Middies a 21-7 lead. However on the next drive, the Middies threw an interception, and the Mustangs would take it 67 yards for a touchdown making the score 21-14 with 6:15 left in the second quarter.
The Mustangs continued to put defensive pressure on the Middies stopping them from scoring on their possession. Shortly after, sophomore quarterback Noah Beard threw a 52-yard pass to Case Mclntyre for a touchdown. This tied the score at 21 going into the half.
Strongsville came out hard in the third quarter with three consecutive plays for 32 yards from freshman Harsh Patel. As the Mustangs made it first and goal, freshman Skylar Vanrachack scored his second touchdown of the night, Giving the Mustangs a 28-21 lead with 6:03 left in the third quarter. Neither team scored for the remainder of the quarter.
Mustangs had the momentum since the middle of the second quarter. They would use this momentum to score their fourth touchdown early in the fourth quarter with 9:54 left. Mustangs would led 35-21. When it looked like the Mustangs were in control, the Middies rally back.
Marc Reed went on a huge 40 yard run that put his team in first and goal. Two plays later, a 10 yard pass from Marc Reed to junior wide receiver Dane West found paydirt. They attempted the two-point conversion but it was no good. Mustangs led 35-27 with about 8 minutes left in the game.
The Mustangs would then spend the next five minutes trying to advance the ball up the field. With now only 3:14 left in the game, the Mustangs were on 4th down with 4 yards to get the first down. The Middies needed the stop but didn’t get it as the Mustangs got the 1st. After a series of delay of games and time outs, the Middies got the stop they needed with 1:30 left in the game. The Middies were unable to score and the Mustangs won a game on the road. Final score was 35-27.
